An iPhone 6s Locked to Owner is 3D Touch hardware on Apple's first 16nm iPhone chip, still stopped by a live Find My record. Peek and pop feels like a feature from another decade. The iOS build on many of these units is ancient by current standards. None of that retires Activation Lock. The serial is still a server row.
People buy a 6s as a spare GPS, a kid's first phone, or a parts donor, then discover setup will not finish. They assume a museum-old handset cannot still be bound. Apple did not put a sunset date on this check.
Peek and pop never talked to iCloud
3D Touch was the 6s headline. Quick Actions and Peek lived in the display stack. Sellers still mention "force touch" as if a pressure sensor were a security exception. It is a digitizer feature. It cannot sign you into an Apple Account you do not have, and it cannot delete the bind.
If the screen no longer registers a firm press, you have a hardware fault plus a lock. Fixing 3D Touch does not fix Find My. Do not pay a shop that bundles both as one job.
First 16nm chip, leftover iOS, live lock
A9 on 16nm was the performance jump of that year. It is also why some listings call the 6s "the first modern chip." Modern in 2015 is not modern in activation terms. You can sit on the last iOS build this model will ever take and still land on Locked to Owner after Hello.

Old software does not expire Activation Lock
Have the original holder remove the 6s in iCloud Find. If the Apple Account is yours, recover it. Apple's overview remains HT201365. A screenshot of Settings from iOS 15 or earlier is not a receipt unless it is paired with a purchase record that prints this IMEI.
